Costa Rica - Guanacaste Province

The province of Guanacaste, claimed by Costa Rica since about 1824 and also by Nicaragua since 1858, was finally awarded to the former by President Cleveland in 1888.
Single stamps overprinted “Guanacaste” showing cancellations from the other five provinces are always fraudulent fabrications.

Gold Coast 1875-84

The colony of Gold Coast was established in 1874 by the British. In 1957 Gold Coast was renamed Ghana.
Genuine Issues
Some of the issues are rare so these are only a representation

Spiro Forgeries
Spiro forgeries are the most common forgeries of this issue. They can easily be recognised by their strange cancels. The queen has a sleepy eyed look. There is no watermark and the perforation is 13 (instead of 14 or 12 1/2).
Below a full sheet.

Torres Forgeries
The values are uneven, the ONEPENNY is one word.
Also note the very white pearls on the crown.

Oneglia Forgeries
This is probably the best forgery.
There is a line from the nose to the forehead,
The shading is coarse
The eye is wrong

Fournier Forgeries
These have all the features of the Spiro forgeries

Sperati also made forgeries of the of the 1/2 p and 1 p values.
This is a photoprint image.
1. some of the horizontal lines of shading in front of and below the chin are irregular instead of straight
2. the shading on the lobe of the ear is noticeably less than in the genuine
