Diego Suarez 1890-92

 This blog will examine some of the regular issues and postage dues of Diego Suarez.
The Fournier forgeries shown are those he sold but did not necessarily create.

1890 overprints on France Commerce issues
1890 Sc1-5 Genuine Certified


Forgeries sold by Fournier

The Fournier forgeries are fake overprints on forged stamps
The last E mid bar is too high
The back of the L is inclined
Serifs on the 1 are different from the originals
The 5 top serif is too short
The bottom letters are too close together with some touching

1891 Sc 10
Genuine left, Fournier forgery right
The forgery sold by Fournier is rather crude
The top & bottom letters are uneven


1892 Overprint

Most overprints are very rough as if applied with a hand stamp

Aside from a lack of finer detail, a key feature of the forgery is the shape of the hands
