Dominican Republic 1866-1873

A rare series that has been forged repeatedly
A combination of papers and flaws that makes it an effort to collect
26 different issues with a score of sub types

Genuine Stamp Sc 29
Features
- The stamps measure 15.5 mm. wide by 25 to 25.5 mm. high, measured between the opposite edges.
- The lines in the quadrants are as follows: upper left quadrant, 17 lines; upper right quadrant, 15 lines; lower left quadrant, 13 lines, and lower right quadrant, 16 lines. The lines are quite clear and can be counted easily. This is a basic check , since no forgery has the exact lines.
- The cross above the Bible doesn't touch it.
- The upper fork of the left-hand end of the scroll containing the Latin words is a good distance from the side of the frame.
- The Phrygian cap rests on the bottom part of the Bible.
- Simulated writing appears on the right page of the Bible only; the left page being blank.
- The left side of the scroll where DIOS is written doesn't  touch the line of the edge.
- The semi-circular black line shows a little black ball in it, just above the cross, and the ends of this semi-circular line do not quite touch the flag-staves.
- The bottom curve of the S of DIOS is larger than the top curve.
- The loop of the P on PATRIA touches the vertical stem so low that at times it resembles a D.
- The T in PATRIA slants slightly to the left.
- In the lower left part of the scroll there are seven short vertical lines.

So the question is where did the forgeries come from
My guess would be that Fournier sold Spiro's stock and Spiro obtained them from another forger - perhaps Patroni who made other S.A. forgeries
