Armenia 1920 Unissued

They were printed by the Chasepot Printing Works in Paris by order of the First Dashnak Government early in 1920.
Recess-printed in sheets of 50 (10 x 5) and perforated 14.5.
The series has 10 values with the low values printed in 1 pass and the high values in 2 passes.
A part of the order, the lower values were delivered to Erivan in November but not in time to be brought into use.
The remainder of the printing of the low values together with all the high values was used by the Dashnak Government exiled in Paris to raise funds from the stamp trade.

Inverted Stamps are not rare both in the originals and the reprint/forgeries
Original below - these may not be errors but purposely made for collectors

Reprints (Forgeries)
Mass amounts of reprints/forgeries of all values exist.
In my opinion an unauthorized reprint, regardless if the original plates were used, are little more than forgeries
Some experts claim that as many as 3 types were produced.
Either the original plate was destroyed after the first print and a second plate was produced for the stamp trade or the original die got into unauthorized hands and a second plate was made.
The print is often unclean, the border lines on the left side to small, the numerals are not completely inked and the distances between the stamps in the sheets is wider. The inks used for the reprints are denser in consistency and the centres in particular are blurred where the ink has penetrated the surface of the paper of the high values.
In general the colors of the inks of the reprints duplicate the darker shades of the original printings.
For the low values, Eagle design, the numerals are for the most part showing in outline only but this effect is sometimes found with lightly inked copies of the original printing.
Numerals in outline only, or partly filled, can also be found on some reprints of the high values but rarely so on the original printing of the high values.
The reprints were also perforated line 14.5 but they are known in complete sheets imperforates for all values.
The gum on reprints is starch based and visibly applied with a brush.
The size on the forgeries is 0.5 mm wider

Examples below: Original left, Reprint right
NOTE on the reprints
- The thin border line on the left
- The deeper colors are very evident
- The numerals either only outlined or partially shaded in.

Blocks are generally a good indicator of being reprints

Specimens
The first five stamps were overprinted in pairs and send to the UPU for recognition. The UPU never officially reacted and later those stamps found there way into the stamp trade.
It appears that these specimens only go to 15 rubles, but not to higher values!
Specimen overprints on higher values are not described in the literature and are probably forgeries.
