Philippines 1854-1863

1854, February 1
Imperforate. Hand Engraved in sheets of 40 (5 x 8) with each stamp differing in design.
The stamps are rather crude and unfaltering, So much so that the queen forbade their use on mail to Spain
Genuine stamps

The 10c has many varieties

1854 Forgeries
Fohl Forgeries
The forger Engelhardt Fohl made forgeries of the 1 r and 2 r, where the inscription "CORREOS 1854Y55" is at the top instead of at the bottom. 
The forgeries of the other two values made by him are deceptive since they are engraved.


Senf Forgeries
They were distributed with a stamp journal issued by Senf as 'Kunstbeilagen' (art supplements)

Sperati Forgery
The stamp chosen by Sperati was from sheet position 33, (third stamp in the seventh row)
The central stroke of the 'F' in 'FRANCO' is very weak.
There is a white dot in the upper right side of the '0' in '10'.
The right frame line has an 'extension' just above the level of the nose.

In this issue, the inner circle is broken by the labels at the top and bottom of the stamp

Imperforate. Lithographed. Printed by Plana, Jorba y Cia, Plaza de Binondo, Manila, in sheets of 48 (6 x 8) stamps, comprising 12 blocks of 4 varieties. 
The inner circle is broken by the labels at the top and bottom of the stamp.

Forgeries
1855 Issue 5c -Sperati  Type A
1. There is a colored dot on the inner frame line above the "S" of "CORREOS"
2. There is a colored dot that joins the two frame lines to each other above the "1" of "1854"


Oswald Schroeder forgery 
The "8" is too slanting and the "5" of the bottom inscription is too small. 
The letters are slightly different.

Bottom letters too far apart


Primitive Forgery
Appears as hand drawn

The bottom part of the 'C' in 'CORREOS' consists of a straight line with no curve
The top of the '4' is thick
The circle of pearls is broken on the right side

Top left corner of the 'R' in 'FRANCO' is broken.
The 'C' of 'CORREOS' is away from the left margin
Bottom stroke of the second 'R' touches the 'E'

The First 'R' in 'CORREOS' has thin downward stroke.
Bottom loop in the first '5' in '55' is broken
Top curve in 'C' is broken
Bottom "5" loop too large

1855 Genuine Type II
In this issue, the inner circle is not broken by the labels at the top or bottom of the stamp; and the circle of pearls are not broken by the frame line at the left or right

Sperati 1R Type A
1. The "O" of "INTERIOR" flaw of Type B has been retouched
2. The left foot of the "T" of "INTERIOR" has been retouched, still weak but not as severe as Type B

Sperati 2R 
1. There is a colored dot in the white space above the ring of pearls NE of point of wreath
2. The second "R" of "CORREOS" has no serif at top left
