Iran 1884

These forgeries like the forgeries of the 1882-84 issues are very plentiful and many auction houses and dealers offer them as genuine.
However, unlike the previous ones, the quality of the forgeries is poor and dealers should recognize this.
Most of these forgeries were also made in France.

Genuine Stamps Sc 54-59

Forgeries
Above is a Senf forgery (right) compared to the original (left)
Generally Senf forgeries will be found with the word FALSH printed in the lower margin but this is easily removed by subsequent forgers or dealers.
Major differences are the crown, eyes and the 3 missing dots under the last Farsi letter.

Above Left - probable Fournier forgery
The cogs around the numeral 10 are much fewer than the original
The coat lacks details
The face is different
Right - crude forgery
The horizontal background lines are uneven PERSANE is spelled with a F instead of a P. This is typical of a Torres forgery

A Fournier Block?

Unknown source
The letters are thin, the E in PERSANE looks like an I
The feather headdress is white with no details.

Halves of the 1Os, 50c and 1Fr surcharged with Farsi characters in red or black are fakes.
The 50c (below) and 1fr surcharged with a large "S" surrounded by rays are also fakes.
